weekly resolutions

A few weeks ago, I started making Weekly Resolutions for myself. This was an idea I found through Mae Jane, who got it from Gala Darling. The idea is to set three goals for yourself each week - less would be plain lazy, and more is a recipe for failure. But three? Three is just right. So far, my resolutions have been boring and meant for my eyes alone - eat two pieces of fresh fruit a day, finish this sewing project, wake up at 6:00am, etc. - and I've been moderately successful. But then I thought, hey! Why not share them? And why not encourage some of my blogging buddies to make resolutions with me, and link to or leave them in the comments, and why don't we all become better people together? Sure, this is exactly what Gala does on her blog, but tons of people actively comment there. Here, you know that I will pay attention in an individual sort of way, and won't that be nice? (And, if you want a cute icon like the pencil below, Gala has quite a few designs to chose from. Yet another reason to join in!) I make my resolutions on Mondays, but you can start your week whenever you want. And so, without further ado, here is what I'm doing this week:

Experiment with journaling.
I ordered a moleskin sketchbook, which should be here any day, and a book about artistic journaling, which arrived this weekend. Not sure what I'm expecting of myself, but I want to dive in and try at least one of the exercises this week.

Read for 30 minutes every evening.
Lately, it takes me a month to finish one book - if I'm lucky. And I love to read! I would like to finish my current book, How To Practice, and then make some progress on the pile of stuff currently stacked on my bedside table.

Finish numbers 11 and 12 on my 101 list.
Look at me, making new goals when I have a whole list of them just waiting to be completed! Numbers 11 and 12 on my 101 list are to: Create a file system for works-in-progress and future ideas, and; Create a portfolio of all published articles, reviews and clips. I started both of these tasks months ago and have procrastinated actually completing them. Sometimes, I am very silly.

Wish me luck!

I'll give it a shot with you. Although I suspect this may end up much like my 3 day venture into Twitter, it's at least a good excuse to get me to blog more often. Off to blog my 3 goals...

I made some goals yesterday. I'll share them later. Right now, I just want to be a gangsta.

Yay! Knowing y'all are resolving along with me will make it much easier.

Also, I think that next week, I'll resolve to be a gangsta. Oh yeah!
