This month, I ran 88.22 miles! 88.22 MILES! I spent 13 hours and 37 minutes running (1337? Internet acronyms, ahoy!). I burned over 10,000 calories (now I don't feel bad for all that beer and bread). Basically, I kicked ass and you know what? It feels awesome.Running is awesome. I can't believe that I just typed that sentence, and I can't believe I did it honestly, sincerely, and with a straight face. I was never a runner, never an athlete. Roller derby taught me how to use my body for movement, energy. And now running has taught me more about discipline and possibility then I ever imagined.
Dailymile has a game going around, where people are challenging themselves to run 100 miles during the month of August. I signed up and I'm almost positive I can do it. Running is amazing, and so are we!
I remember long ago you had a look of doubt when I told you you'd be fast one day and that you were built for running. :)
ReplyDeletehaha! I love that you are the most l33t runner ever, go 1337!
ReplyDeleteYou're inspiring me to take up running again (not just one in a blue moon like now).
I own a pedometer but have never calibrated it. Dang, I'm teh lame, and you p0wn running.
Just got back from a hot, muggy walk. I hate summer unless i'm in a pool. (i know, excuses, excuses)
Love your enthusiasm!

ReplyDeletei am a leet runner. tee hee.
ReplyDeletei am also available to anyone and everyone for advice and general cheerleading, though my advice will mostly boil down to TAKE IT SLOW! DO IT OFTEN! DON'T GIVE UP! also DRINK PLENTY OF WATER and LOVE YOURSELF. very important.
Doesn't it feel amazing?!? July has also been a good month for me, too. For the first time ever, I hit 100 miles in a month. Running IS awesome!
ReplyDeleteYay! that's great. My hat's off to you :)
ReplyDeleteI think friends that run are awesome.
ReplyDeleteI just wrote a blog post very similar to your's about my updates on DailyMile: bit.ly/2RVS9z
ReplyDeleteI have also signed up for the 100 mile challenge, not sure if it's the same one. Good luck on your's and good to hear how much you're enjoying running.
I am super impressed with you. I hate, hate running. But I just moved to a city where everyone does it, and it looks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I can try it again soon :)
You're blog is adorable, E.
You are so awesome and such an inspiration! I noticed you using DailyMile months ago (you had a link on your blog then). I signed up but keep forgetting to update it. I really does look like a handy little social website. I think I remember noticing that it let you create your own running routes too. Super neat! 100 miles in August! I know you can do it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful you invited me last year to join in on the c25k with ya'll. I always felt like a biker, but I'm beginning to feel the power of running. Thanks and congrats.
