About

Hello, and welcome to The New Me!

About Me
I'm Chrissy, a New Yorker, turned Texan, currently living in North Carolina. I'm in my last year of an MFA program, studying fiction, and working on my first novel. I live with my husband, Nathan, our two giant dogs, Seamus and Calvin, eight chickens, and one beehive. I love writing, reading, running, yoga, wine, animals, board games, teaching, and spending as much time at the beach as possible. I try to keep things simple and err on the side of kindness.

About The New Me
I've been blogging for over ten years, as a way to record, collect, examine, observe, and celebrate. I don't write for any one niche or market, mostly because those words make me uncomfortable. Instead, I strive to write posts that share the every day wonders and small joys of my particular life - sitting on the porch and drinking wine while it rains, raising chickens and collecting fresh eggs each morning, baking bread on cool autumn days, and swimming in the ocean on hot summer nights. You'll also find to-do lists, goals big and small, updates on writing projects, financial meltdowns, and dreams for the future.

While I'll occasionally write a sponsored post, I take those opportunities very seriously and only agree to them if I feel they align with my morals, beliefs, values, and readership. Which means I accept very few of those opportunities, though I am open to them. Because this blog is a labor of love, I don't have a steady posting schedule. Sometimes I post Monday through Friday, other times I make it here once a week. No matter how often I post, I try to make it worth your (and my!) while.

Where to Start?
A lot has happened since I started this blog way back in 2005, when I was 22 years old (!!!). Below is a short list of my favorite and/or most popular posts since then. I will add to and update this page as it suits my fancy.
